I don’t think this is what Eminem had in mind.
Picture yourself before you had your new role.
What were your hobbies?
What did you do to keep yourself active? A few questions to ask.
Oftentimes, we want to start off a new job blazing hot – impress the boss and show them that you’re willing to make sacrifices… until those sacrifices result in waking up and wondering how you can get out of work that day.
You begin to come home, exhausted.
You wake up, exhausted.
The weekend (finally) hits, the time you’ve been waiting for but you’re… exhausted.
Before you felt like a rapidly deflating tire, you liked to go for brunch, rock climb, go to the library and spend time away in nature. You can do this again.
Take a step back and make time for yourself.
Communicate these feelings to your employer and you will begin to see an increase in your productivity, but also begin to see the passion that you began with.
In a society in which we are required to spend much of our time working, you must love your life before you can love your work and you must love your work before you can love your life.
Make time to enjoy things during the week, disconnect during the weekend and flourish.
